Crime Prevention for Home and Commercial Premises

We are dedicated to ensuring the safety of households and businesses in Islington. The expert locksmiths at Kyox Locksmiths of Islington provide guidance and professional Locksmith services to residences and commercial properties in Islington and the surrounding areas.

With a small effort, you can significantly improve the security of your property. There are many products available to meet all budgets and requirements.

Burglars are known to be opportunistic, looking for easy ways to access properties, avoiding those that will take more time to enter or require noise or visibility that could attract attention. If your home or business looks unoccupied or is not locked securely, the chances of being targeted are a lot higher.

8 Basic Security requirements you should have on the property.

 1. Lock cylinders in combination with the door handle should have 3 stars under the TS007 Standard or should meet Secure SS312.
 2. Door Frames should be certified to PAS 24 Doors of Enhanced Security.
 3. Doors should be protected from being kicked in at the weakest points: door jambs, lock areas and hinges.
 4. Windows should be certified to British Standard BS7950 Windows of Enhanced Security or PAS 24 Glass panels.
 5. Accessible windows should have laminated glass so they won't shatter if broken.
 6. Mortice Locks should be 5-lever locks to meet BS3621 standards.
 7. Rim locks should meet BS3621 standards as well (especially important if your insurance requires it)
 8. Multi-Point locks should be fitted with cylinders that meet BS EN 1303 Grade 3.

Patio Doors

Sliding patio doors should always have the sliding section on the inner side and should have anti-lift blocks. If your existing patio doors don't have these features, you can install additional security bolts to prevent forced entry.

Garden Fencing and Gates

Many gardens are easy to access. Fitting locked gates which are at least 2 meters high will ward off intruders.

Padlocks for Garden Sheds and Garage Locks

Garden sheds are often left unlocked, and this can make them tempting to criminals. Make sure you have a padlock fitted on your garden shed door and keep it locked when not used.

Security lighting

Intruders don't like to be noticed and keeping your property well-lit can make them feel vulnerable to observers and so will look for easier pickings elsewhere.

The Lived-in Look

We have all come across homes with flyers and posts hanging out of the letterbox and milk bottles on the porch uncollected. These, along with snow that hasn't been shovelled or uncut lawns, are tell-tale signs that no one is around and that a burglary might be relatively low risk. If you are going away, either enquire at the post office for them to collect it until your return or, arrange with a neighbour to collect it for you. This can go a long way to keeping your property safe.

Our technicians are professionals in all areas of home security, and we can provide you with on-site assistance at any time of day. We can carry out security assessments and any required upgrades to existing locks and doors.
